3. The Englert Theater

 

The Englert Theatre located in Iowa City is an old-style playhouse that serves as the local community arts center. This performance center has just over 700 seats to host events of all types.

The theater opened in 1912 by a husband and wife team. In the 1980s the theater space was split into two small-screen areas. At the same time they upgraded their interior with gypsum board, new carpeting, paneling, and acoustic ceilings.
